Anybody else noticing a trend with Sterling? In 1995, his Daytona 500 victory - and his entire season - represents a "triumphant return to Winston Cup racing for the Chevy Monte Carlo". And this year, his victories and his point standings represent Dodge's return to Winston Cup. He is always driving a car to it's return to NASCAR. And he does it well. Isn't just coincidence that Jeff Gordon now drives a Chevy Monte Carlo. Maybe in a few years he'll be driving, oh let me guess, a Dodge? He is a big name for NASCAR, because he wins. Well, whoo-hoo. He hasn't been consisently in the 10 ten point standings, now has he? He started off the year back in 29th. And Sterling is rarely mentioned on air during the race, unless he wrecks or he takes the lead (even then they sometimes don't talk about him.) Jeff Gordon can be running in 20th or something and Sterling can be in 5th after pit stops, but they will show where the top 4 came off and Jeff Gordon, who is in the back of the pack. They've done it before. And it isn't right to have a big name overshadow all the other drivers. I mean, he's got the championship clinched everyway except mathematically. Yeah, Ricky Rudd can win mathematically, but Gordon would have to have 3 more really bad days, 29th or worse each time, and Rudd would have to win. Every race. Ricky's good enough to, but Gordon isn't going to sit back and finish in the back 4 races in a row. Not if it will cost him another championship.
